January 2021 – Review

Where should I begin – January 2021…

The start of a new year. The start of a new chapter. The imaginative restart bottom.

For me January 2021 was the start-shot for a new adventure – Wüstenkind. In the first week of January I wrote down what I wanted to ‘achieve’ in this month for Wüstenkind. After reading it the next day and wanting to start realising my goals, I teared up the piece of paper as I just saw unrealistic high goals which had nothing to do with WHY I actually started this adventure.

So I gave it another try… Cooking is my love language, it is the language which does not require words, yet it is always understood. Jumping in the (very) cold water to try and see what I can make out of this love and passion takes courage. How much courage and patience I have, I have no idea. But one thing I am sure off, I want to do this and want to bring other people the joy of trying and speaking this love language; Cooking.

“Cooking is my love language”

Therefore, my January was filled with administrative tasks which take a lot of time in the background and leave not so much room for creative content. For example, I totally forgot how long it takes to build a website. To think about the structure, the content, building the structure, writing the content and so forth. But I can proudly say, that I finished the set-up of the website and that a lot of creative content is coming your way.

One main point which took a lot of my time, is trying to figure out how I want to use the two platforms – Website and Instagram – that I have set-up to be my main channels of communication with you. To be honest, in theory I cannot figure out the right balance yet. So I will just give it a go and go with the flow and hope that I figure out what suits me and simultaneously allows me to create valuable content for you. If you have any feedback or comments, don’t hesitate to write me!

One of my personal highlights this month was to be able to see how many people cooked the ‘January’ dish of my calendar! Every time I received a little note or picture of the dish my heart jumped! These little moments of joy let me experience the impact my recipes can have on others. This allowed me to see that cooking is really a love language – it can transport so many things being it quality produce, seasonal produce, the smell of comfort, a moment of relaxation and so much more. Thank you to everyone who allows me be part of your cooking journey and your adventure.

I wish you all a good start in the month February 2021! And to bring it back to the point: continue to read, cook, explore the unknown, be brave, open your eyes and enjoy every second of it!
